Events for 2008

Wednesday 26th March 2008.  Spring Lecture at Lympne Castle by kind permission of the owner.  The speaker will be our former Secretary, Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh, who will talk on ‘Medieval fishing and fishermen of the Romney Marsh’ at 7:30pm.  There will be a pay bar available from 6:30om and the talk will be followed by a free buffet. Tickets will be £6 each and a booking form will be in the Spring Irregular.

 

Saturday 12th April 2008.  Guided tour of Winchelsea Cellars by the Winchelsea Archaeology Society.  Meet at the Court House at 2:30pm.  Tickets at £6 available from our Secretary, Terry Burke.

 

Saturday 3rd May 2008.  Bodiam Study Day.  From 10:00am to 4:00pm at Bodiam Castle study centre.  Talks and walks on the subject of Bodiam port and manor.  Tickets will be £10 and a booking form be in the Spring Irregular.

 

Friday 19th September 2008 at 7:30pm.  Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the RMRT at New Romney Assembly Rooms with drinks beforehand from 6:30pm.  The AGM will be followed by a talk by Dr Alan Tyler entitled ‘Monuments of the Marsh’. Open to Friends, partners and guests.  There is no charge.

 

Also, on Friday 20th June 2008, our Secretary Terry Burke is giving a talk to the Winchelsea Archaeology Society which is the opening lecture of their History Week entitled (provisionally) ‘The Rise and Fall of the Cinque Ports – an overview’.
